Description	:	(KS) Belleville Telescope Aug. 12, 1993 Mildred Albina Handley, daughter of Wesley and Albina Strnad Rundus, was born April 4, 1896, on a farm homestead near Munden, and died at the Heartland Care Center, Belleville, at the age of 97 years and four months. She was the tenth of 11 children. She was a member of Munden Presbyterian Church during her youth and of Belleville United Presbyterian Church at the time of her death. Read More	(KS) Belleville Telescope Aug. 12, 1993 Mildred Albina Handley, daughter of Wesley and Albina Strnad Rundus, was born April 4, 1896, on a farm homestead near Munden, and died at the Heartland Care Center, Belleville, at the age of 97 years and four months. She was the tenth of 11 children. She was a member of Munden Presbyterian Church during her youth and of Belleville United Presbyterian Church at the time of her death. She attended Beck Rural School, Munden and Cuba high schools and Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. During World War I she helped her brother and brother-in-law with farm work. In November of 1914, she and her brother, Jerry cared for an infant orphan, Ray Sugars, from the Kansas Children's Orphanage in Topeka. They reared him as a foster child into adulthood. June 2, 1928, she was united in marriage to Rev. Floyd Handley in Belleville. To this union three sons were born. She assisted her husband in pastoral work for 43 years. They pastored Presbyterian churches in Unadilla, Firth, Orleans and Stanford, Nebr.; Loveland, Timnath and Nunn, Colo.; Midwest Wyoming and Holland, Minn. They retired to Belleville in 1972. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Floyd, July 12, 1981; brothers, Charles, Theophil, George, Jerry, Benjamin and infant brother, George; sisters, Caroline, infant sister, Mary, and Emma Kadavy; her son, Elmer Don. She is survived by her sons, Earl of Wilmington, Del.; Harold of Baltimore, Md.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held August 9, at the United Presbyterian Church of Belleville, with Dr. Ivan Rundus and Rev. Garth Barber officiating. Burial was in Ida Cemetery of Munden.
