Handley, son of Frank and Margaret Puckett Handley, was born September 2, 1898, on a farm in the Ida community and died July 12, 1981 at his home in Belleville at the age of 83 years, ten months and ten days. Handley, son of Frank and Margaret Puckett Handley, was born September 2, 1898, on a farm in the Ida community and died July 12, 1981 at his home in Belleville at the age of 83 years, ten months and ten days. He received his education in the Ida and Narka schools. He farmed with his father until 1925. He attended Moody Bible institute in Chicago, Illinois, and graduated in 1927. As a student pastor her served the Hubbell Presbyterian church. He entered the Presbyterian Seminary and took courses in the Omaha University. After his graduation in 1932, he was ordained by the Kansas Presbytery as a full-time pastor. His first pastorate was the Hopewell Country Presbyterian Church of Unadilla, Nebr. During his 49 years as a pastor, he served six churches in Nebraska, four churches in Colorado, a church in the oil fields at Midwest, Wyo., and the Presbyterian Church at Holland, Minn. He retired in 1971, taking residency in Belleville. He married Mildred Rundus on June 2, 1929. To this union three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ralph; and two sisters, Bertha Carpenter and Pearl Eisenman. He is survived by his wife, Mildred; three sons, Elmer Don of Grand Island, Nebr., Earl Leslie of Wilmington, Del., Harold John of Chicago, Ill.; two brothers, Ross of Gurley, Nebr. and Alvin of Narka, Kan.; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held July 16 at the United Presbyterian Church, Belleville. Rev. Ivan Rundus officiating. Burial was in Ida Cemetery.
