Description	:	Mildred E. Hansen, 95, passed away Thursday, December 2, 1999, at her home in Kearney. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church or the University of Nebraska at Kearney Foundation in her memory. Horner-Lieske-Horner Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 6, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Jan Sturgis officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery, Silver Creek, Nebraska. Mildred E. Benson was born September 7, 1904, in Silver Creek, the daughter of Willard and Lauretta (Lyon) Benson. She graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1921. She graduated from Kearney State Teachers College. She also attended the University of California at Berkeley, the University of Missouri at Columbia and the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. She taught in rural schools in Merrick and Polk counties for two years. She married Christian William Hansen on August 30, 1925, in Silver Creek. Together they moved to Kearney, while Christian served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She taught in the biology department at Kearney State Teachers College for 31 years, until retiring in 1963. They had no children. She was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church and Delta Omicron. Surviving are her husband, Christian; one brother, Elmer Benson of Stromsburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, three brothers and one sister-in-law, Ellen Benson. Kearney Hub, Dec 4, 1999, page 6A
