Description	:	MOUDEN, MILDRED MAURINE—Mildred Maurine (McPeck) Mouden, daughter of John and Maude (Walker) McPeck, was born on the family farm near Geneva, on Dec. 19, 1906. Read More	MOUDEN, MILDRED MAURINE—Mildred Maurine (McPeck) Mouden, daughter of John and Maude (Walker) McPeck, was born on the family farm near Geneva, on Dec. 19, 1906. She departed this life on Sept. 11, 2001, at Osceola at the age of 94 years, 8 months and 23 days. She attended country school until the seventh grade, when the family moved to town. She graduated from Geneva high School in 1925. She started to work for The Lincoln Telephone & Telegraph Company part-time in 1923 while still in high school, and worked full time after graduation until her marriage to William M. Mouden on March 8, 1932. Bill also worked for the telephone company. To this union two children were born, a son William Michael Jr., who passed away at birth, and a daughter, Marjorie Ellen. During her years, Mildred was active in clubs, church, and Eastern Star. She worked for a time as a telephone operator at the Fairmont Airbase in Fairmont during World War II when they lived in York. In 1943, they moved to Osceola and after her husband’s death in 1953, she moved back to York with her daughter in the summer of 1954, where she returned to work for the Telephone Company. In 1962, she was transferred to Lincoln and remained there until her retirement in December of 1971. The following year she moved back to Osceola to be near her daughter and family. In February of 1988, Mildred moved to the Good Samaritan Center and made it her home until her death. Mildred was a member of the Frank H. Woods Telephone Pioneer Association, the First United Methodist Church of Osceola and The Order of Eastern Star Osceola & Shelby Chapter 193. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, son, brothers, Leslie and Francis McPeck and sister, Gladys Stiers. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Johansen; two granddaughters, Tammy Jones and husband, Mark, Terri Johansen, one grandson, Rob Johansen and wife Pam, nine great-grandchildren, Tyler, Tory and Tallie Jones; Hayden, Logan, Devin and Peyton Johansen; Ashley and Cindi Foster; two sisters-in-law, Inez McPeck and Ann McPeck, many nieces, nephews and friends. Mildred was a very loving and caring person and will be remembered by her family as Grandma Mimmie. Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Osceola on September 15, at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Richard l. Dimond officiating. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery, with Kepner-Roberts in charge of arrangements. Those serving as pallbearers were Rob Johansen, Mark Jones, Tyler Jones, Bill Stiers, Harold Rosenau and Charles Gess. The Nebraska Signal September 19th, 2001 page 14.
