Description	:	Mildred Shirley Neumen, 98, New Braunfels, TX, formerly of Kenmare, ND, died Friday, January 20, 2017, in New Braunfels, TX. Mildred was born on July 31, 1918, in rural Kenmare, the daughter of Syprian and Alma (Olson) Rud. She was raised in the Kenmare area and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1940. Read More	Mildred Shirley Neumen, 98, New Braunfels, TX, formerly of Kenmare, ND, died Friday, January 20, 2017, in New Braunfels, TX. Mildred was born on July 31, 1918, in rural Kenmare, the daughter of Syprian and Alma (Olson) Rud. She was raised in the Kenmare area and graduated from Kenmare High School in 1940. After graduation she worked for Honey Boy Bakery for eight months then J. C. Penny for one year both in Kenmare. She moved to Renton, WA, where in support of the war effort, she worked for The Boeing Company assembling B-17 bombers. Mildred moved back to ND and worked at Northwestern Bell in Kenmare for a year and transferred to Crosby, ND where she was the head telephone operator. Mildred was united in marriage to Milo Neumen on July 6, 1950, in Minot. The couple made their home in Donnybrook, ND, where Milo farmed for a short time before the couple moved to Highlands, CA, where Milo was employed by Kaiser Steel. The family moved back to ND, where they purchased a farm eight miles southwest of Tolley, ND. Mildred worked at the Kenmare and Mohall Hospitals as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Due to ill health in 1987, Milo retired and shortly after entered the Kenmare Hospital where Mildred looked after him. Milo passed away on October 8, 1988. Mildred later moved to New Braunfels, TX to be closer to family. Mildred was a member of Nazareth Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and she volunteered with the Senior Companions, all of Kenmare. Survivors: daughters, Meredeth (Bruce) Nyman, New Braunfels, TX and Arlene (Bobby) Burks, Lake Worth, TX; grandchildren, Michael (Alicia) Nyman and their children, Shelby and Luke; Paul (Randee) Nyman and their children, Chase and Trent and Robert (Cami) Neumen and their children Brian, Emily and McKenzie and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; brother, Wilfred “Bud” Rud and sisters, Alvina Rud and Doris Kessler. Memorial Service: Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare. Friends may sign a register book one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare.
