Millie Ann Bruce Had Lived in Chico for Fifty Years. Mrs. Millie Ann Bruce, for the past 50 years a resident of Chico, died on Saturday night at the age of 79 years. She was one of the best known residents of Butte county, and was universally loved and esteemed. She is survived by a husband, ten children and about 40 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and had she lived two months longer would have participated in a grand family reunion at the old family homestead o the Humboldt road three miles out of Chico, at which all the children, grand children and great grand children would have been present. "Mrs. Bruce, the wife of John Bruce, one of the wealthiest ranchers in Butte county and known throughout northern California, was born in Pennsylvania. She came to Chico half a century ago and settled on the homestead where she died. That has been her home ever since she came to the state. Her friends were legion. She was of a kind and charitable disposition, and a philanthropist in a quiet sort of way. Scores have received substantial favors at her hands. "Of the ten children, all are grown to manhood and womanhood, and all live in and about Chico, with the exception of one, Mrs. James Young, who is a resident of Redding. There are two other daughters, Mrs. Nancy Williams and Mrs. Charles Marton. The names of the seven sons are William, Alfred P., Charles, Henry, John and Robert. All of these children have families, and some of them have as many as 10 and 11 children. There are also several grandchildren. "The mother and father and their sons and daughters have been planning for some time past to hold a big family reunion late in the summer. All the immediate relatives were to lay aside whatever duties happened to be at hand so they could attend. Nothing was to stand in the way of their being present, and it is believed that every one would have been present. Whether the mother's death will interfere with the plans in this connection is a question. "Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the homestead residence. Burial will be in the family plot. The minister who will officiate has not as yet been chosen."
