Description	:	Last rites were held for Mrs. Chas. E. Sanborn on Monday afternoon, Jan. 25, 1960. Mrs. Sanborn passed away at the farm home early Thursday morning, Jan. 21, 1960 after a long illness. Millie M. Stout, born Jul. 28, 1875 in Arthur, Grant County, WI, to Zebulon and Alice A. Stout. She came to Dakota Territory with her parents in 1884 and settled at Swan Lake, where she attended the first organized school in Turner County, later finishing her schooling in Hurley after which she taught a year. Mrs. Sanborn passed away at the farm home early Thursday morning, Jan. 21, 1960 after a long illness. Millie M. Stout, born Jul. 28, 1875 in Arthur, Grant County, WI, to Zebulon and Alice A. Stout. She came to Dakota Territory with her parents in 1884 and settled at Swan Lake, where she attended the first organized school in Turner County, later finishing her schooling in Hurley after which she taught a year. She was a charter member of the Hurley Methodist Church, baptized there in 1891. She married Charles E. Sanborn on Nov. 24, 1892 at Swan Lake. After farming 1 year in Swan Lake township they spent the winter of 1893-94 in Parker, where their eldest daughter was born. In the spring of 1894 they moved to the farm in Turner township which continued to be their home for over 65 years. Her main interest in life was the welfare of her home and family, especially her daughter, Margaret, who was stricken with spinal meningitis at the age of six and has been an invalid since that time, and for whom she patiently and tenderly cared for as long as her health permitted her to do so. Mrs. Sanborn also found time for outside activities. She was a charter member of the W.S.C.S. of the Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Miriam Rebekah Lodge and a charter and 35 year member of the Hawthorn Extension club. She is preceded in death by a daughter, Ethel in 1900, and a son, Alvin in 1958. She is survived by her husband, 3 sons, Elwood, and Charles of Hurley, Vale of Mitchell; 3 daughters, Mrs. Marcia Rundell, Mrs. Ona Peterson and Margaret, all of Hurley; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
