They are: Mrs. Guy Crosby of St. Helens, Fla.; Albert Currey, of Gordon, Nebr.; Mrs. Mabel Bosner, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Ralph Currey, of Fort Collins, Colo. Last rites will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the local Baptist church, following a family prayer service in the home at 1:30 o'clock. Both services will be conducted by the Rev. Francis Sorely. Interment will be in Oakwood cemetery. Miller in charge. The many friends of the family extend sincere sympathy to all the bereaved relatives. Stratford Courier May 2, 1940 Funeral services for Milo Currey were held on Friday afternoon, April 26, at 1:30 o'clock in the home and at 2 o'clock in the Baptist church. Both services were in charge of the Rev. Francis B. Sorley, who brought a message on Romans 15:4, "For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope." With Mrs. Sorley as pianist, a ladies quartet, composed of Mrs. R.U. Freese, Mrs. LeRoy Fisher, Misses Vernice Johnson and Earlis Johnson, sang "Lead Kindly Light" and "When the Roll is Called up Yonder." Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery. The pallbearers were Jonas Angstrom, James R. Coulter, Clarence Neese, Elmer Peterson, John Peterson, J.O. Westrum. Milo Currey was born in Rochester, Minn., March 7, 1860, and died in his home here, April 23, 1940, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, 16 days. In 1864, his father, a Civil War veteran, while on leave moved his family to Hamilton County where deceased grew to manhood. On Dec. 31, 1881, he was united in marriage to Christina Angstrom and to this union seven children were born of whom four survive the father. After his marriage he farmed near Stratford until 1900 when he moved with his family to Napier, Nebr. There he made his home on a farm until 1919 when he and his family returned to Iowa. In 1930, Mr. and Mrs. Currey moved into Stratford where they have since made their home. In 1898, he and his wife united with the Christian church at a meeting in the White Elephant schoolhouse. Mr. Currey was a familiar figure to the residents of Stratford and community, having lived here much of the time since he was 4 years old. He will be missed by all who knew him. Surviving him are his widow, and the following children: Clara Crosby, of St. Helen, Oregon; Mabel Bosner, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Ralph Currey, of Fort Collins, Colo.; Albert Currey, of Gordon, Nebr. He was preceded in death by two sons, Leo and William, and a daughter, Alma. Surviving also are twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, other relatives and a host of friends.
