Description	:	Milo James “Jim” Hanson, 77, of Robinson, passed away on Oct. 3, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on July 16, 1939 to Peter C. and Mildred (Mikkelson-Haugen) Hanson in Steele, ND. He was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. Read More	Milo James “Jim” Hanson, 77, of Robinson, passed away on Oct. 3, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born on July 16, 1939 to Peter C. and Mildred (Mikkelson-Haugen) Hanson in Steele, ND. He was confirmed at Bethany Lutheran Church. Jim attended country school while living at the homestead “up north” until the family moved to their farm south of Robinson in 1949. Jim graduated from Robinson High School in 1957. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957 and was honorably discharged in 1960. On Oct. 20, 1962 Jim married Mary Lou Peterson at Zion Lutheran Church in Bismarck. They made their home on the family farm where they lived to date. Jim had a passion for farming. He farmed his entire life and was so proud to get out in the hay fields this past summer. Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, friends and probably even more enjoyable was the sharing of the stories. Jim played softball and basketball winning a State Class C Amateur Championship in basketball. He enjoyed watching sports with his children “Go Vikings”. He was extremely proud of his grandson Ty and enjoyed watching him play baseball, basketball and especially football. He loved visiting with family and friends. In earlier years he enjoyed going dancing with his wife and lately going on short trips with her. She was the love of his life! He served on the township board for over 50 years. Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of almost 54 years of marriage; three children, Derrick, of Steele, Darcie, of Bismarck, Darwin (Linda Magstadt), of Steele, one grandson, Ty, of Steele and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and also great great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind one brother Peter (Loretta) Hanson, of Bismarck, one sister, Ardene Barth, of Duluth, MN and special friend of the family Nedra Bergquist, of Bismarck. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Velma Dorothy Hanson, Norma Hinkel and Velma Trautmann; one brother, Dale Hanson; two half sisters Clara Hongerholt and Josephine Landsverk.
