BIRD, a most substantial citizen of Wenatchee Valley was a boy in his teens when he joined his parents on Wheeler Hill, in 1886. He was born at Bozeman, Montana in the early seventies, by which data it will be seen that he literally grew up on the frontier. He was born at Bozeman, Montana in the early seventies, by which data it will be seen that he literally grew up on the frontier. Quite early in life he evinced a strong taste and inclination for architecture and accordingly he qualified for this profession in which he has been eminently successful; numerous buildings in Wenatchee stand as proof of this fact. He drew the plans for and erected the flour mill on South Wenatchee Avenue, now the property of the Wenatchee Milling Company. Mr. D. A. Beal who was the managing head of the firm, was warm in his praise and appreciation of the skill and dispatch with which the work on this structure was carried to completion. Mr. Bird in his modest way says: "That is where I got my start." Mr. Bird is a member of the firm of Bird & Hobson, contractors, owners and operators of an extensive plant for the manufacture of bricks. On Christmas day, 1900, Mr. Bird was married to Miss Ida C. Pringle, a native of Iowa. Four children have been born to this marriage: Ronald, Dorothy, Virginia, and Margaret. Mr. Bird has ten acres of orchard and a fine home in Millerdale on Red Apple Road.
