Sloan and Miss Minnie (Mima) Barber were united in marriage at the residence of Henry Sloan, near Huron, Wednesday evening, 19th Inst., Rev. H. D. Rice of Horton, officiating. The elegant home was ablaze with lights, and crowded with guests to witness the rites that united one of the most promising young men of Huron and the fairest daughter of Invermay as man and wife. At the conclusion of the beautiful wedding march, played by Miss Josie Sloan, the young couple entered the room supported by W. H. Pierce, of Horton and Miss Edna Pierce, of Pawnee Rock, Neb. In a few minutes they were made one and receiving the congratulations of affectionate friends. The collation that followed was bountiful and elegant, the table decorations being exceptionally fine The presents were very handsome. The future of the young couple is before them. Joseph Barber, a wealthy farmer near Huron, was arrested on the charge of incest and adultery, preferred by Edward Sloan, husband of Barber's niece, who swore that he went home and found Barber and Mrs. Sloan under circumstances that led to the charge. Barber is over 40 years old and the arrest caused great excitement in the neighborhood. The second chapter of the Sloan Barber trouble opens with the commencement of a suit in the district court by E. I. Sloan agains Joseph Barber for $100,000 dames. In his petition Sloan says substantially that on the 27th day of August this year. Barber debauched Mrs. Mima Sloan wife of the complainant, thereby depriving him of her comfort, society, aid and assistance. He says that up to the date mentioned he and his wife were living happily together, and he characterizes the debauch as wicked, willful and malicious and that he has suffered greatly in mind and body . . . Sloan claimed that he went home August 27, and bought Barber and Mrs. Sloan together. Sloan proceeded to knock Barber down a few times and it is alleged that had it not been for Mrs. Sloan Barber would have been physically wrecked then and there . . .It is also said that Sloan and his wife will separate. Sloan before her marriage, today, through her attorney, T. A. Moxcey, filed for divorce from George A. Fisher. She alleges gross neglect of duty, They were married April 21, 1911. Mrs. Fisher asks for alimony also and whatever other redress the court finds that she is entitled to. She also want her maiden name back.
