Sixth street. She had been ill for several months. Mrs. Hootman was the former Mina Kimmel of Kilbourn and she was married to Charles Hootman who preceded her in death. They had made their home in Birmingham for several years. Survivors are two sons, Fred and Kenneth Hootman, both of Fairfield; four daughters, Mrs. Oral France of Martinsburg, Mrs. Glenn Kerr of Kilbourn, Mrs. Carl Moore of Birmingham and Mrs. Frank Bagby of Fairfield; and three brothers, John Kimmel of Washington, Henry of Birmingham and Francis of Kilbourn. Note: Transcribed for genealogy purposes by Betty Hootman. ----------- The following was also transcribed by Betty Hootman: Mina Grace Hootman Mina Grace, only daughter and youngest child of Henry Jacob and Lucy Margaret Jones Kimmel, was born near Birmingham, Van Buren county, Iowa, July 19, 1878, and departed this life April 12, 1947, being 68 years, 8 months and 24 days old. She had been in poor health for many years, but her last illness came some three months ago and at that time she was taken to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Bagby in Fairfield so that she might be close to her doctor, and remained there until the time of her passing. On Dec. 18, 1895 she was united in marriage to Charles Hootman who preceded her in death a little more than 12 years ago. To this union six children were born, Mrs. Mattie Moore of Birmingham, Mrs. Pearl Kerr of near Keosauqua, Mrs. Myrtle France of near Ollie, Kenneth E., Mrs. George Bagby and Fred of Fairfield; all of whom survive her. She is also survived by three brothers, John Kimmel of Washington, Iowa, Henry of Birmingham and Frances if Kilbourne. Those preceding her in death were her husband, her parents and one brother, Johnathan Kimmel. Her church affiliations here with the Lutheran church having been baptised[sic] faith some thirty years ago and remained a strong believer to the time of her death. She was a kind and loving wife and mother and as her infirmities grew her chief delight was to have her children around her. She leaves to mourn their loss her six children, all of whom were with her at the time of her death, 22 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and 3 brothers. Funeral services conducted by Rev. H. C. Irvine were held in the Birmingham Presbyterian church Monday afternoon with burial in Maple Hill cemetery. ------------------ We the children of Mrs. Mina Hootman wish to thank each and everyone who helped to make the burden a little lighter during the illness and death of our mother.
