Mina was born in Yoder, Colorado, October 23, 1918, to William Lee Halley and Helena Bertha (Kline) Halley. She had an older sister, Mae Patterson. She was just 22 days short of being 95 years old. Mina O. Halley married Clay David Higginson on February 14, 1938, in Castle Rock, Colorado. They had residences in Denver, CO; Arkansas; San Antonio, Texas; Oregon; Kremling, CO; Fruita, CO; Clifton, CO, and Orchard Mesa in Grand Junction, Colorado. She has lived with her daughter and son-in-law in Fruita for the last seven years. She had six children, David Lee (Pat); Marvin LaVerne (Leta); Joyce Linda (Merlin) Parmiter; Marilyn Kay (Jim) Searcy; James Allen (Sandy), and Carol Ann (Mike) Childress. She had 14 grand hildren; 40 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; husband, Clay; son, David; an infant son; daughter-in-law, Sandy; son-in-law, Merlin, and two great-grandchildren. She had been been variously employed as a school cook, a Beeline clothing salesperson, a Beauty Counselor salesperson, and a Bookkeeper for Jim's Lawnmower Shop. She went to cosmetology school and worked out of her house for awhile. Mina was a member of Living Water Baptist Church where she was loved by her church family. She enjoyed bowling, walking, swimming, and most of all she loved spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly. There will be a public viewing Saturday, October 5 at Martin Mortuary, 550 North Avenue in Grand Junction from 5 - 7:00 p.m. The celebration of her life will be held Sunday, October 6 at Living Water Baptist Church, 1820 J 3/10 Road in Fruita at 2:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held Monday, October 7 at Grand Junction Memorial Gardens, 2970 North Avenue at 10:00 a.m. Published in The Daily Sentinel on October 5, 2013
