Tate, who were married on Jan. 15, 1835, in Lordstown, Trumbull County Ohio. (Mary L. Tate was born Dec. 5, 1810, on Ohio, and she died Sept. 3, 1850, in Kankakee, LaPorte County Indiana. Mary is buried in the Miller - Griffin Cemetery, in Kankakee, LaPorte County Indiana. (She shares a headstone with their daughter Catherine). --- Nathaniel and Mary Barmore were living in Warren, Trumbull County Ohio in 1840 and 1844. They later lived in Hudson township, LaPorte County Indiana by 1847. In the 1850 census, he is listed as a hotelkeeper in Kankakee township, LaPorte County Indiana. Mary died there in 1850. In 1856 their daughter Minerva died in Buchanan, Berrien Co. Michigan. In the 1860, 1870, and 1880 census, he is listed in Niles township, (Buchanan post office), Berrien Co. MI (He was listed as a blacksmith in 1860). --------------------------------- The 8 children of Nathaniel Barmore Jr. and Mary L. Tate are: --- 1. Mary Roxana Barmore. (1835-1911). m. Joseph Morris Baker. Buried: Elk Grove Cosumnes Cemetery, Elk Grove, Sacramento County California. --- 2. Seymour C. Barmore. (1837-1869). He "possibly" worked as a detective, of Nashville, Tennessee, and was murdered by the Ku Klux Klan, near Columbia, Tennessee, on Feb. 11, 1869. Google: "The KUKLUX - Discovery of the Remains of Detective Barmore". "OR" There is a death record for a Seymour "Barmour" who died in Buchanan township, in March of 1869. --- 3. Emily Barmore. b. 1839. --- 4. Elizabeth Barmore. b. 1841. --- 5. John F. Barmore. (1844-1918). m. # 1. Mrs. Caroline N. "Carrie" Hess Goit (1833-1893), on Feb. 6, 1870, in Three Oaks, MI. m. # 2. Hettie Goit, in 1897. John died in the National Homes for Disabled Soldiers in Miluakee, Wis. Buried: Wood National Cemetery, Milwaukee, Milwaukee County Wisconsin (Plot 20, 0, 214). (Caroline is buried in the "Posey Chapel Cemetery", in LaPorte, LaPorte County Indiana). --- 6. Catherine Barmore. (1845-1848). She shares a headstone with her mother Mary, in the Miller-Griffin Cemetery, in LaPorte, Kankakee Co. IN. --- 7. Minerva Barmore. b. 1847-48. (Oak Ridge Cemetery records say 1848). d. 1856, in Buchanan, Berrien Co. MI. Buried: Minerva was originally buried in the Kathryn Park Cemetery, a.k.a. "The Old Burying Ground", and the "McCoy Cemetery", in Buchanan, Michigan. She was later moved to the Oak Ridge Cemetery (in Section 2, Lot 33). --- 8. Salma Salina Barmore. (1849-1921). Salma was born in LaPorte County Indiana. He settled in Buchanan, MI about 1852. m. Martha E. "Mattie" Richards, in 1876, (1850-1921), the daughter of George H. and Lucy W. Richards. Salma later settled in in Niles township, Berrien County Michigan, in 1898. He was a township clerk for two years, and a township treasurer for one term. He was a member of the city council for two terms (two years each). Salma died in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo Co. MI. Buried: Oak Ridge Cemetery, in Buchanan, Berrien County Michigan (in Section 17, Lot 3, with Martha).
