Jan 23, 1953 - Carroll Daily Times - Miss Minnie Catherine Anderson, 73, a lifelong resident of Carroll, passed away in her sleep early Friday at her home, 105 East Eighth street. The body is at Huffman Funeral home here where funeral arrangements are pending. Although in poor health for the past several years, her death was unexpected. Miss Anderson was found by her sister, Harriet, society editor of The Daily Times Herald, when she tried to awaken her for breakfast. Dr. John R. Morrison, Carroll County coroner, was called. He announced no inquest would be held since the death was due to natural causes, believed the result of a heart attack suffered several hours before. Miss Anderson had taught in the public school systems of Carroll and Waterloo until her retirement from teaching a number of years ago. She made her home with two sisters, Harriet and Miss Margaret Anderson. She was a 50-year member of the Carroll Methodist church and also of Signet Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star. Active in both these organizations and the Clio club, she was past president of the Past Matrons club of the O.E.S. and of the Clio organization. She was a graduate of Carroll High school and Iowa State Teachers college, Cedar Falls. Born September 29, 1879, at Carroll, she was the daughter of the late Louis T. and Mary Anderson, Carroll pioneers. She was the oldest of seven children. Survivors include three sisters and two brothers — Mrs. J. Henry (Carrie) Boettger, Walsenburg, Colo.; John T. and Louis H. Anderson, who operate the Anderson Bros. & Co. shoe store here, Harriet and Margaret Anderson. Her father preceded her in death August 9, 1921, and her mother, Feb. 7, 1927. One brother, Harry, died in 1895, at the age of 6, as the result of an accident.
