Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at the Salem Lutheran Church, rural Superior, with Pastor Steven Tjarks officiating. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, December 18, 1986; pg. 3 ============================ Minnie Elizabeth Schleif was born December 14, 1899, on a farm near Daykin, Nebraska, and passed away December 13, 1986, at Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 86 years, 11 months and 29 days. Minnie was one of eleven children born to William and Wilhelmena Ransick Schiermeyer. She was baptized at an early age and confirmed in April 1914 at Bird City, Kansas. She attended Fairview District #48 grade school. She lived her entire life in the Nelson community with the exception of three years in Bird City, Kansas. She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and Circle One of Salem Ladies Aid. June 19, 1919, she was united in marriage to Eric Schleif. To this union three sons and one daughter were born. She spent many hours sewing and quilting and enjoying her flowers. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eric, September 15, 1980; one son Francis who died July 27, 1973; 3 sisters, Mary and Ida Schleif and Louise Meyer; two brothers, Herman and William Schiermeyer; and one infant granddaughter, Connie Lucille Schleif, who died July 7, 1963, and one infant great-grandson Eric Alan Schleif, who died July 11, 1976. She is survived by two sons, Wilford and his wife Rosie of Vancouver, Washington, Virgil and his wife Betty of Nelson; one daughter, Ruby and her husband Lou Allgayer of Weeping Water, Nebraska; three brothers, Fred Schiermeyer and his wife Helen of Nelson, Melvin Schiermeyer and his wife Mary and Ernest and his wife Erna, all of Superior; two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Gerlack of Superior and Meta and her husband Ed Blobaum of Oregon, Illinois; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 17, 1986, at 11:00 a.m. from Salem Lutheran Church near Superior, Nebraska, with Pastor Steven Tjarks officiating. Music was provided by Patty Carlson, soloist, singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Softly and Tenderly" with Lillian Christensen as organist and accompanist. Casketbearers were Everett Meyer, Glen Schiermeyer, Donald Schiermeyer, Lynn Schleif, Richard Schleif and Raymond Schleif. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson, Nebraska.
