Born Oct. 17, 1899, in Jasper County, she was the daughter of Herman and Marie Beye Ebert.* She was a graduate of Mariposa No. 9 School. A lifelong resident of Jasper County she married Walter Koppin Feb 16, 1927, in Newton. Mrs. Koppin was a homemaker and helped her husband farm until 1963. She was confirmed at the St. John's Church in rural Newton in 1915 and was a member of the church's Women's Guild. She was also a member of the Zoar Church. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and three sisters-in-law, Goldie Schnell and Florence Koppin, both of Newton and Esther Lincoln of Grinnell. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died in 1983; four brothers and three sisters. * Note: Minnie Hulda Eilert is her correct name. Her family name is Eilert and not Ebert as stated above. *********************************************************** From funeral service: Minnie, the daughter of Herman and Marie Beye Eilert, was born October 17, 1899, in Jasper County, Iowa. A lifelong resident of Jasper County, she was a graduate of the Mariposa #9 School. She was confirmed at St. John's Church, rural Newton, Iowa, in 1915. On February 16, 1927, Minnie was united in marriage with Walter Koppin in Newton. She had devoted her life to her husband, helping him farm for many years, until 1963. She was a past member of the St. John's Women's Guild and was a member of the Zoar Church, rural Newton. Death came to Minnie on Sunday evening, December 29, 1996, at the Nelson Manor in Newton. She was 97 years old. Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter in 1983; her four brothers and three sisters. Those left to honor Minnie's memory include her many Nieces and Nephews; and her three sisters-in-law: Esther Lincoln of Grinnell, Iowa; Goldie Schnell of Newton; and Florence Koppin of Newton.
