The pallbearers were six grandsons, Francis Kolar, Robert Kolar, Frank Rother, Frederick Rother, Richard Cordes and Ronnie Cordes. The flower bearers were LaDene Rother, JoAnn Cordes, Glen Rother, Harold Rother, Bryce Rother and Douglas Rother. Minnie Lena Wagner was born June 9, 1866 near Falken, Hoenstein Ernsthal Saxony, Germany, the eldest of four children, born to Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Wagner. She died at her home in east Wolbach, Nebraska on August 26, 1950 at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 17 days. Mrs. Rother received her early education in the schools of Gremany. Her scholastic standings in her studies were difficult to exceed. At an early age her parents had her baptized in the Lutheran faith and at the age of 14 on Easter Sunday, she, through confirmation, became a member of the Lutheran Church of Germany, years later, transferring this religion to the Lutheran Church of Wolbach, Nebraka of which she remained a faithful member until her death. To this same altar she brought all of her children for baptism and confirmation. In the year of 1887 at the age of 21, she migrated alone, to the United States, landing in Grand Island, Nebraska, where she visited with an Aunt and Uncle before seeking employment in Grand Island. After being employed there for three years, she came to St. Paul, Nebraska on June 20, 1891 and was united in marriage to Frederick Ernst Rother of Wolbach, Nebraska, an acquaintance which began some years before in the city of Ernstal, Germany. The trip from Grand Island, Nebraska was made by lumber wagon drawn by a span of mules, driven by Mrs. Herman Rother, a prospective sister-in-law from Wolbach. Mr. and Mrs. Rother were early pioneers of Greeley and Howard counties, enduring many of the hardships of early days. Never letting obstacles detain them for long, they became progressive farmers, doing well in all their endeavors. To this union were born seven children: William dying in infancy in the year 1894; Frank, the oldest child, died of wounds received in action in the Argonne Battle near Paris, France on October 24, 1918. Mr. Rother, her companion of 57 years of marriage, passed away December 13, 1948. Mrs. Rother has been a patient sufferer of a heart ailment for over a period of four years which caused her death. Mrs. Rother was a great lover of the outdoors, flowers, her home, family, and the community at large. Her love for flowers was always portrayed in her yard or garden. She took great pride in her 21 grandchildren, who were often seen playing in her yard or visiting with her in her home. She was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid and a Gold Star Mother (through her son Frank's untimely death in World War I) of the Auxiliary of the Ray Mapes Legion Post. Mrs. Rother leaves to mourn her death 5 children: George Rother, Paul Rother, Henry Rother, Minnie Cordes all of Wolbach, and Mrs. Elsie Kolar of St. Paul; 21 grandchildren; and one brother Frank Wagner of Bartlett, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Pauline Kunze of Braunsdorf, Germany. Also some cousins, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
