Henry Gustav Rother was born on January 22, 1903 at Wolbach, Nebraska, the youngest of five sons of Ernest and Minnie Wagner Rother. Henry Gustav Rother was born on January 22, 1903 at Wolbach, Nebraska, the youngest of five sons of Ernest and Minnie Wagner Rother. He and Margaret Ethel Whalen were married on June 11, 1941 at the church of Visitation at O'Connor by Rev. Michael McDaid. They resided on a farm east of Wolbach until 1957 when they moved into town. He was a farmer all his life until ill health forced him to retire. In his younger life he played on the Wolbach town team baseball club and also served as its manager for a good number of years. He also was manager of the Greeley Baseball team for several years. His twelve sons follow their father's same interest in this favorite sport. Besides his wife he is survived by eighteen children, six daughters and twelve sons. They are: Douglas, a state patrolman at Wayne, Mrs. Betty Ondracek of Greeley, Mrs. Donna Hellbusch of Belgrade, Mrs. Minnie Gellatly of Grand Island, Mrs. Patty Hellbusch of Fullerton, Tommy of Kearney, Rollie and John (stationed in the Army in Germany), Eddie (stationed in the Army at Fort Campbell, Ky.) Henry (K.S.C. student) and at home are Bob, Ted, Mike, Stan, Mary, Charles, Cheryl and Ernest. Surviving also are two brothers, George and Paul and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Cordes and Mrs. Elsie Kolar, all of Wolbach. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank, his oldest brother, died on battle fields of France during World War I, and a brother, William.
