She attained the age of 95 years and seven days. Minnie Naatjes was born on a farm northeast of Lennox, SD, the daughter of John and Swantje (Buus) Naatjes. She grew up in this area attending Crowley rural school. On Feb. 28, 1923 she married Henry Steever at her parents home near Lennox. The couple lived their entire married life on the Steever homestead until retiring into Lennox in 1956. Minnie was a homemaker and seamstress. Henry died on Aug. 16, 1983 ending a marriage union of over 60 years. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two son: Verlyn Eugene Steever on Aug. 3, 1938 and Donald Steever on Sep. 28, 1990 and seven siblings: George Naatjes, Ann Jacobs, Matilda Jacobs, Dena Bunjer, Theda Siepkes, Tena Poppens and Harm Naatjes. Grateful for having shared her life are her two sons: Calvin Steever and his wife Lynn of Santa Rosa, CA and James Steever and his wife Carol of Lennox; one daughter: Vonelle Larson and her husband Arlo of Lennox, SD; one daughter-in-law: Greta Steever of Lennox, SD; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
