Read More	Mona Frances (Taubman) Conner, 100, of Eureka, Humboldt, California, died Wednesday, 8 June 2022, at her home, attended by her niece. Conner was born at her home in Ferndale on Saturday, February 4, 1922, to Charles Frances Taubman, formerly of Humboldt County, California, and the late Edna Florene (Heney) Taubman, formerly of Fortuna, California. She was raised on a ranch, the youngest of four girls, and learned at a young age what hard work was all about. She attended Grizzly Bluff and Coffee Creek schools, as well as Ferndale High School and Humboldt State College. When she was a freshman at Ferndale High, she met the love of her life, David Conner. He was drafted into the Army on July 25, 1942. A year after he had completed boot camp, Dave and Mona Conner were married in Spokane, Washington. In 1943, he was sent overseas and she moved back to Humboldt County. After 26 months in the U.S. Army, he returned to Humboldt County and the couple settled in Eureka. They built the house where she lived and died. The couple's son, Dwight, was born in 1952. Mona Conner loved being a homemaker and a mom. In retirement, she and her husband continued to camp and travel. They visited friends and family across the state and enjoyed a company sponsored trip to Spain. The deacons at United Congregational Christian Church in Eureka planned a special birthday event for Mona's 99th birthday on February 4, 2021. To mark the occasion, friends and family drove by her home that afternoon and waved in celebration. Rex Bohn of the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors was on hand to present a certificate of recognition. According to those who know her, Mona Conner was loved by all those she met. She had a great sense of humor and was thoughtful and caring toward others. She always had time to listen to others and offer words of encouragement. She was known for her love of flowers and gardening, and her home-baked goodies. She loved her family, friends and church family. On Monday, July 7, 2008, Mona Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, David Harold Conner, son of the late John Harold Conner formerly of Crescent City, California and the late Permelia Ann (Stewart) formerly of Fort Dick, California. She was also preceded in death by one son, Dwight David of Eureka, California; three sisters, Katherine Belle (Taubman) Christensen of Houghton Lake, Michigan, Clara Florene (Taubman) Bender of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Helene May (Taubman) Petersen of Eureka, California; four grandparents, Xenia Amy (Clark) Heney of Waddington, California, William Lawrence Heney of Petaluma, California, Lee U. Taubman of Ferndale, California, and Carrie Belle (Wilder) Pedrick of Fortuna, California. A graveside service for immediate family was held June 16, 2022, at Ocean View Cemetery; a memorial service for all family and friends is being planned for August, 2022.
