Description	:	The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, July 2, 1925; pg. 5 Mose (sic) Simpson, old time resident of Chester, and well known in Republic and Thayer counties, died recently at his home in Fairbury, at an advanced age, after a long illness. Funeral services were held from the Chester Methodist church (sic) Thursday with burial in the Chester cemetery (sic). ================================================ The Belleville Telescope (Belleville, KS), Thursday, July 23, 1925; pg. 8 WAS AN EARLY DAY SCOUT The recent death at Fairbury of Moses Simpson at the age of 89 years, removed an early day hunter and scout in the region of the then village of Denver. He was deputized by the government to assist in running down the bands of outlaws that infested that region. He also did prospecting between times and mined the gold from which his wife's weding (sic) ring was made. Fifty years later the same ring was used in celebrating their golden anniversary in Chester, Neb. He homesteaded near Munden in 1871 after a typical covered wagon trip westward. He was at one time the most widely known man in this section.
