By 1880, they had moved to Saline County, Missouri. Moss' father was a physician. In the 1870 census, Dr. Edward Smith owned $6000 worth of real estate and $2500 in personal property, a considerable sum for those days and much more than his neighbors... They are buried in this same cemetery. - Information gathered by Blytha (Dennis) Ellis ______ "The Marshall Republican" [Marshall,Saline,Missouri] July 1912 MOSS LONG SMITH died at Pittsburg, Kansas, last Sunday at the age of 42 years. His body was sent to Slater and taken in charge by undertakers Hill Bros. & Koch. Besides his mother, he is survived by one brother at Slater, Louis Smith, and several in Kansas. Funeral services were held at the home of his mother, Mrs. Armedia [sic] Smith, in West Stover Tuesday by Rev. Tolbert.
