Healy passed away Monday morning, February 2, 1914, at the home of her sister, Mrs. August Nelson, west of town, after a long and painful illness, of cancer of the liver, aged 37 years, 1 month and 27 days. After coming here from Lincoln, Neb., where she submitted to an operation a few months ago, she seemed to improve for a time, but the relief was only temporary, and despite her own brave efforts and every care of loved ones, she succumbed to the inevitable. Healy passed away Monday morning, February 2, 1914, at the home of her sister, Mrs. August Nelson, west of town, after a long and painful illness, of cancer of the liver, aged 37 years, 1 month and 27 days. After coming here from Lincoln, Neb., where she submitted to an operation a few months ago, she seemed to improve for a time, but the relief was only temporary, and despite her own brave efforts and every care of loved ones, she succumbed to the inevitable. Deceased was a daughter of J.I.A. Johnson, a pioneer resident of Union County, S.D., where she was born, grew to womanhood and was married. A dutiful daughter, a devoted wife and a true friend, she will be sincerely mourned by all who knew her. To the bereaved husband and other relatives the community tenders its deep sympathy in their bereavement. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. C. Wesley Fletcher in the Akron Baptist church this (Thursday) afternoon. Interment was made in Riverside cemetery. Mr. Healy's father, George Healy, and his sisters, Mrs. May Lau and Miss Leona Healy, came from near Huron, S.D., to attend the funeral.
