Read More	Obituary for Mrs. Thomas Piper Rebecca Ellen Livingston was born on September 4, 1838, in Bedford County, Pennsylvania, and died at her home near Carrollton on March 3, 1916, at 2 o'clock. She was 77 years and 6 months of age. She was reared to womanhood in Pennsylvania. On January 1, 1863, she was united in marriage to Thomas A. Piper, who preceded her ten years ago to his reward. To this union eight children were born, four girls and four boys. The oldest, William, died in infancy in Pennsylvania. She with her husband and two children, Harry and Jennie, came to Iowa in 1868, residing near Carrollton for forty-eight years. She was a member of the Reformed church in Pennsylvania. After coming to Iowa she with her husband joined with the United Brethren church 22 years ago, at Carrollton, of which church she was a faithful member until death. She leaves to mourn her loss, seven children, Mrs. Jennie Coppock, Harry Piper, Mrs. Minnie Davis, Miss Villa Piper, Mrs. Mary Solt, Ed and George, all living near Carrollton; also four step-children, Mrs J.W. Boggess of Illinois, C.R. and S.W. Piper of Nebraska, and Mrs. C.D. Corbin of California; also 28 grand children and 5 great grandchildren; three brothers, E.Y. Livingston of Carroll, James of Ohio and Samuel of Pennsylvania, besides a host of other relatives and friends. She was a loving wife and faithful mother, a good neighbor and loved by all who knew her. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. Mrs. George Copeland, the Carrollton minister, at the Carrollton church, Sunday at 2 o'clock. The text was from Rev. 20:6. Six of her grandchildren, Claude and Arthur Coppock, Roy and Say Solt, S.D., and Guerney Piper were pallbearers. The remains were laid to rest in the Carrollton cemetery. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. Rebecca Ellen Livingston was the seamstress to Thomas Piper's first wife, Mary Funk, who died February 6, 1861. Rebecca married Thomas Piper on January 1, 1863, she was 24 years old and he 34.
