Reverend Carla Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Myra Ann Bengston was born January 13, 1928 in Hamlin County, South Dakota, the daughter of Willie and Emma (Ball) Bengston. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Akron. She attended school in Akron and graduated from Akron High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Max Vreugdenhil on March 21, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Akron. They farmed in Union County, South Dakota for many years. After retiring in 1989, they moved to Akron. Max passed away May 30, 1990 in Akron. Myra continued to make her home in Akron. In March of 2009, she became a resident of the Akron Care Center. Myra was a longtime member of Union Creek Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and helped with Bible School. She was active for many years in the E.L.C.W. She was also a member of the “Neighborhood Club”. Through the years, she enjoyed reading, quilting, playing cards, shopping, and traveling. But most of all, she loved the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her daughter: Monica Rudigar of Apple Valley, MN; a son: Brad (Deb) Vreugdenhil of Akron; her grandchildren: Daniel (Melanie) Rudiger of Webster, MN, and their children, Maddie and Myra; Carissa (Jeff) Calentine of Omaha, NE and their son, Rylen; Rachel Rudiger of Apple Valley, MN and her son, Austin; and Tyler Vreugdenhil of Kearney, NE; two brothers: Orval Bengston of Colorado and Eugene (Marcia) Bengston of Arizonia; and many nieces and nephews.
