Christian, 83, of Miller, South Dakota, and formerly of Wessington, died Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002 at Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller. A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Wessington with the Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery. Reck Funeral Home, Miller, was in charge of arrangements. Myra Marguerite Siegling was born March 18, 1918 in Burdette Township to John and Bertha (Mast) Siegling. She grew up with three brothers, Milo, Kenneth and Darrell and one sister, Edna. She spent her early adult years working on the family farm. She was united in marriage to Walter Ronald "Bud" Tranter November 20,1940. He died September 27, 1948 as the result of a farm accident. She worked as an operator for Bell Telephone and as a clerk for J.C. Penney and Johnson Clothing in Miller. She married Maurice E. Christian May 15, 1951. They lived and farmed north of Wessington for 35 years before moving to Miller in 1986. Myra's great love was the farm life and she spent her happiest years there. For many years she was a member of the Turtle Creek Ladies Aid and the Sunshine Mixers Extension Club of Wessington. She experienced tremendous joy from her many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews to whom she was affectionately known as "Aunt Suse". Survivors include her husband, Maurice; his daughter, Carolyn(Dale)Johnsen and children; a sister, Edna Bingham; a brother, Kenneth; a sister-in-law, Dolores (Darrell) Siegling; twelve nieces, nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Bud; brothers, Milo and Darrell; brother-in-law, Ross Q, Bingham; and sisters-in-law, Arlene (Kenneth) Siegling and Eunice (Milo) Siegling; a niece, Gail Siegling.
