Description	:	Wenatchee World - Sunday, September 6, 2009 Myrene Asmussen, 69, a 15 year resident of Omak, passed away August 30, 2009, at the Cashmere Convalescent Center. She was born in Wenatchee, WA on September 14, 1939, to Vernon and Hazel (Gordon) Buckingham of Mansfield, where she grew up and also attended Mansfield schools. Read More	Wenatchee World - Sunday, September 6, 2009 Myrene Asmussen, 69, a 15 year resident of Omak, passed away August 30, 2009, at the Cashmere Convalescent Center. She was born in Wenatchee, WA on September 14, 1939, to Vernon and Hazel (Gordon) Buckingham of Mansfield, where she grew up and also attended Mansfield schools. While in high school, she belonged to many clubs and was a cheerleader all four years. After high school, she attended CWU for a short time. Then, on June 6, 1958, she married Gerald Asmussen and they lived on a wheat ranch. She drove wheat truck almost every year during harvest. Also, while their children were in school, Myrene was room mother, Den mother for Cub Scouts and she helped during track meets, by being one of the timers at the finish line. She also was a maid at the Y-Motel in Bridgeport for many years. Survivors include one aunt, Janna Kay Gourly of Junction City, OR; a sister, Cheryl Murison of Mansfield; two sons, Gene Asmussen of Mansfield and Calvin Asmussen of Omak; a daughter, Geri Langlow of East Wenatchee; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gerald. A Memorial Service will be held at the Mansfield City Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2009. If desired, memorials may be made to the Mansfield Fire Department, in Myrene's name.
