Read More	Myron Frank Joy Jr., son of Myron Frank Joy and Clarissa May (Teachout) Joy, was born December 10, 1923, in Angus, Nebraska, and passed away Friday, September 1, 1995, at Brodstone Memorial Nuckolls County Hospital, Superior, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 22 days. He attended and graduated from Nelson High School. He was inducted into the Navy on January 11, 1942, and served during World War II on the battleships USS Beale and the USS Denebola. He served in many engagements including New Guinea, Philippines, Okinawa, and the Japanese Occupation. During his tour of duty he earned many awards, the Victory, American Area, Philippine Liberation W/2 Stars, Good Conduct and the Asiatic-Pacific W/1 Silver Star. After his honorable discharge from the service in December 1945, he worked at Wullenwaber Grocery and was Deputy County Treasurer for Nuckolls County. He took a correspondence course in accounting and worked as an auditor for the State of Nebraska for more than 30 years. March 6, 1945, Myron was united in marriage at Mankato, Kansas, Dorothy Jane Wullenwaber. This union was blessed with three children. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Nelson which is now Nelson Community United Church of Christ, the V.F.W. and American Legion posts and Masonic Lodge, all of Nelson. Myron enjoyed baseball, cribbage and his yard work. Preceding him in death were his wife, Dorothy, on November 26, 1993; his parents; a daughter, Judith Ann Duey; a sister, Mary Ellen Cornet; and two brothers, Albert and Robert Joy. Survivors include one son, Thomas and his wife Roxanna of Mankato, Kansas; one daughter, Barbara Rakosky and her husband Steven Rakosky of Nelson, Nebraska; one brother, Henry and his wife Dorothy of York, Nebraska; two sisters, Erma Hohnbaum of York, Nebraska, and Marjorie Brown of Omaha, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Mrs. Rick (Tracy) McVaugh of Morganville, Kansas, and Miss Dana Duey; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 5, 1995, at 2 p.m. from the Nelson Community United Church of Christ with the Rev. Royce Buchtel officiating. Music was provided by Debi Garrison singing "Footprints" and "One Day At A Time" with Carlita Price as organist and accompanist. Honorary casketbearers were Don Matzner, Tom Mason, Jim Joy, Jay Nielsen, Chris Joy and Jack Wheeland. Military rites were presented by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of Nelson. Private burial will be in the Nelson Cemetery. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, September 7, 1995; pg. 2
