Description	:	Myrtle Florence Nichols, daughter of John Wesley and Lenie Elizabeth Reed, was born May 10, 1882 in Cass Co., Iowa, and passed away at the Rosary Hospital in Corning, Sunday, May 27, 1956 at the age of 74 years and 17 days. She was married to Alexander P. Nichols Dec. 19, 1899 and to this union nine children were born. She was married to Alexander P. Nichols Dec. 19, 1899 and to this union nine children were born. She was preceded in death by three children, Margaret in 1907, Clarence in 1915, Marjorie in 1921 and her husband in 1951. She is survived by four sons, Daniel A. of Muscatine, Iowa, Fletcher H. of Des Moines, Iowa, Lester E. of Minneapolis, Minn., Merrill H. of New York City, and two daughters, Mrs. Florence Robinson of Ames, Iowa, and Ruth at home, and eight grandchildren. Of a family of ten children, she is survived by one brother Chas. Reed of Des Moines. At the age of fourteen years she became a member of the Church of the Brethren and later transferred her membership to the Baptist Church of Corning, Iowa. Having lived all her life in Cass and Adams County, she leaves many relatives, friends and neighbors who recall her Christian life and deeds of thoughtfulness. In more active years she made her contributions in the activities of civic groups which included P.T.A., Womens Community Club, Garden Club as well as in numerous departments of the Church. In her recent years of poor health she had the privilege of sustained use of eyes and hands and there was no way to tell how many people cherished gifts of needlework from her hands. Services were held Tuesday, May 20, 1956 at 1:30 p.m. from the Roland Funeral Home in Corning, with the Rev. B. D. Bradbury in charge. Interment was in Forest Hill Cemetery. Music was furnished by Mrs. Esther Roland accompanied by Mrs. Eva Elmore pianist. Pall bearers were Carl West, Clarence Bender, John Narigon, Bill Wheatley, Chas. Wheatley and Dean Driskill.
