CLARINDA HERALD JOURNAL, Clarinda, Iowa, Aug 5, 1946 Funeral services for Mrs Myrtle Swisher were held here Wednesday afternoon in the Methodist church, with the Rev E.M. Buehler in charge. The singing was by Cecil Weaver, accompanied by Mrs Frances Wheeler, and the pallbearers were Roscoe Simpson, Bert Kernen, Chas Woods, Lloyd McCullough, John McCoy and Ralph McCoy, and interment was in the North Grove cemetery. Mary Myrtle Swisher, daughter of Samuel and Nancy Hollis, was born Nov 7, 1881, in Page county, Iowa, and died Saturday morning at the age of 64 years after a short illness. She became ill suddenly with a heart attack while visiting at the home of her sister, Mrs Lonnie Ruben, in Corning and was taken to the Red Oak hospital where she died. Mrs Swisher lived in the same community southeast of Villisca all her life with the exception of the last three years when she resided with her aged mother in Nodaway. She was united in marriage with Harry Swisher on Dec 31, 1902. They had no children but reared a nephew, Donald Swisher who made his home with them from childhood. She was converted and joined the North Grove Methodist church, later transferring her membership to the Methodist church in Villisca. She was preceded in death by her husband, her father and three brothers. Surviving her besides her mother are three sisters, Mrs Clarence Swisher, Berkeley, Calif; Mrs Hugh Burnsides, Ronan, Mont; and Mrs Lonnie Ruben, Corning; also a brother, James Hollis, Park Rapids, Minn.
