Description	:	MYRTLE MC CORKELL Myrtle M. Mc Corkell, 94, of Mitchell, S.D., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services was held Thursday, June 5, at the United Church of Canistota. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, IA. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Mrs. Mc Corkell was born December 26, 1908 in Akron to Fred and Mary Luetta (Kennedy) Adams. She married Wesley Mc Corkell on January 3, 1929, at Sioux City. Mc Corkell, 94, of Mitchell, S.D., died Monday, June 2, 2003, at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral services was held Thursday, June 5, at the United Church of Canistota. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Akron, IA. Pallbearers were her grandchildren. Mrs. Mc Corkell was born December 26, 1908 in Akron to Fred and Mary Luetta (Kennedy) Adams. She married Wesley Mc Corkell on January 3, 1929, at Sioux City. She taught rural school for a time and farmed with her husband near Akron, moving to Canistota in 1951. The couple farmed there until 1979 when they retired and moved into Salem. Wesley died on April 12, 1995. She has been a resident at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell for the past five years. Mrs. Mc Corkell was a past member of the Rebekah Lodge, was a member of the United Church of Canistota, and was active in the extension club and church circle. She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes, sewing, needlework, canning and gardening. After retiring from the farm she helped her husband with furniture restoration by doing the upholstering. Survivors include her children: Wayne (Jan), Lodi, CA.; C. Eldon and special friend Gloria, San Diego, CA.; Howard (Carolrae), Mitchell; Lois (Marlow) Hjellming, Byron, MN; and Ray (Jan), Salem; 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, two daughters-in-law and nine brothers and sisters. Obituary provided by Doris H.
