Mr. Bentz was born Jan. 3, 1917, to Henry H. and Edith (Ashby) Bentz in Webster County. He was raised on a farm. In 1938, he started an International Harvester dealer-ship and hardware store with his father and brother. They also had DeSoto and Plymouth dealerships and later a Chevrolet dealership. On March 7, 1939, he married Josephine Novak. She died on March 6, 1973. He worked in the businesses for 50 years. On June 5, 1974, he married Elizabeth J. (Andersen) Weeks. He lived at Blue Hill until mov¬ing to Hastings in May 2003. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Hastings and United Methodist Church in Blue Hill. Survivors are his wife; two sons, Phillip of Campbell and James of Beloit, Kan.; one daughter, Patricia Cook of Blue Hill; two stepsons, Stan Weeks of Boulder, Colo., and Kent Weeks of Jamestown, Colo.; two stepdaughters, Nancy Lee of Shelton and Susan Stoppkotte of Grand Island; one brother, Woodson of Blue Hill; nine grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; three great¬grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by three daughters and two sisters. Memorials will be given to charities of the family's choice. Hastings Tribune Oct 2003
