Read More	LITTLE BENTZ GIRLS ELECTROCUTED IN HOME ACCIDENT This community was shocked on Friday evening when it became known that two small daughters of Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bentz, Jr., had been killed by electricity. Kay, age 8, and JoAnn, age 5, were bathing in the family home while their mother was attending to duties outside. Apparently, after getting their hair wet, they had brought an electric hair drier from the kitchen and plugged in a socket in the bathroom. They were found by their mother a short time later, submerged in the bathtub. Dr. S.H. O'Neill was called immediately, and the fire department resuscitator was used in an effort to revive them. Double funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon attended by an overflow number of relatives and sympathizing friends. The pastor, the Rev. C.E. Ruch, was in charge of the services. Miss Mary Ann Vogelpohl sang two solos with piano accompaniment by Mrs. Byron Vaughan. Pallbearers were Burnell Kottwitz, Glen McClure, Lewis Lukas, Joe Dusek, Clarence Oye, Melvin Koepke, Elmer Nemecek and Albert Jesska. Burial was in the Blue Hill Cemetery. Helen Kay Bentz was born December 28, 1942, and JoAnn Elizabeth Bentz was born November 2, 1945. They lived with their parents on a farm east of Blue Hill until September 1946, when they moved to the present family home in Blue Hill. Both little girls attended the Blue Hill public Schools and the Methodist Sunday school. They came to their untimely death on Friday, August 3, 1951 when Kay was 8 years, 7 months and 5 days of age; JoAnn had reached the age of 5 years, 9 months and 1 day. Survivors, besides the parents are a sister, Sharon, 10, and a brother, Phillip, 2; the grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Charles Novak of Bladen and Mr. & Mrs. Harold Bentz, Sr. of Blue Hill; the great grandmother, Mrs. Theo. Bentz, Sr., of Blue Hill; the great grandfather, W.S. Ashby of Hastings and a number of aunts and uncles in this vicinity. ~ Blue Hill Leader 10 Aug 1951 Front page
