Description	:	Nancy Elizabeth Lindsey was born March 15, 1921 near Winona, Missouri. She departed his life November 18, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Nancy was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Lindsay. She graduated from Winona High School and attended Southwest Missouri Teacher’s College in Springfield. Read More	Nancy Elizabeth Lindsey was born March 15, 1921 near Winona, Missouri. She departed his life November 18, 2014 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Nancy was the daughter of the late John and Minnie Lindsay. She graduated from Winona High School and attended Southwest Missouri Teacher’s College in Springfield. She taught 8 years in one room country schools in Shannon County. In 1939 she joined Shannon Rebeckah Lodge in Winona. She was past noble grand and had filled each office in the lodge at Winona before it consolidated. On November 3, 1945 she was married to Jesse Leo Johnston. They were blessed with five wonderful children until January 25, 1957 when her husband, Jesse, and two children, Norman and Jimmie were killed in an automobile accident. On January 19, 1959 she was married to Everett Lee Carter. To this union Everett Lee Carter, Jr. was born. She leaves to mourn her passing two children, Linda (Bryan) Young, of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Everett (Karen) Carter of Piedmont, MO; one daughter-in-law, Linda Lee Johnston of Piedmont, MO; six grandchildren, Jimmy (Chrissy) Tigart of Sikeston, MO, Clint (Joy) Johnston of Festus, MO, Terri (Michael) Hackworth of Ellington, MO, Mark (Billi) Carter of Ridge Crest, CA, Mandy (Billy) Rath of Las Vegas, NV, Dakota Carter of Piedmont, MO; twelve great grandchildren, Trey and Drake Tigart, Ryan and Kayla Johnston, Tyler and Gretchen Hackworth, Nietta, Alyssa, Keira and Brett Rath, Kylie and Ashlyn Carter; One brother, John Lindsey of Winona, MO; one sister, Virgie Douglas of Nixa, MO; three brother-in-laws, Charles (Vickie) Johnson, George (Kay) Carter and Bob (JoAnn) Carter; two sister-in-laws, Judy Carter and Donna Carter; several nieces and nephews and many friends. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four sons, Norman Johnston, Jimmie Johnston, David Johnston and stillborn Jesse Eugene Johnston; two brothers, Marvin “Boots” Lindsey and Perry Lindsey. She was a cook at Winona School and worked for International Hat Company of Piedmont as a supervisor for 15 years. After International Hat Company closed she worked as a supervisor for Missouri Leather until she retired to care for her ailing husband in April 1996. Nancy lived most of her life helping other people. She loved her family and friends. She liked working on her yard and garden, cooking, canning, and making jelly for her grandchildren and friends. Nancy lived closed to Winona until she moved to Piedmont in 1959. She joined Winona Methodist Church in 1957. Since moving to Piedmont she joined Harvest Baptist Church of Piedmont. Nancy loved living in her home in Piedmont and all her friends and employees over the years. She never had a boss or instructor she didn’t enjoy working with. The visitation for Nancy will be held at Harvest Baptist Church in Piedmont from 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 21st, with the funeral also being held at the church on Saturday, November 22nd at 11:00 A.M. Online condolences can be made at www.rueggfuneralhome.com.
