When a year old her parents brought her to Dallas county in the spring of 1855. The parents returned to the east and spent the years from 1856 to 58 in Ohio and Indiana. Read More	Winterset Madisonian, Winterset, Iowa February 18, 1932, Page 2 MORTUARY Mrs. John Ruth Nancy Jane Francis, daughter of William Henry Harrison and Phoebe Francis, was born August 10, 1854, in Randolph county, Indiana. When a year old her parents brought her to Dallas county in the spring of 1855. The parents returned to the east and spent the years from 1856 to 58 in Ohio and Indiana. They came again to Dallas county in 1858 and there she spent her girlhood. There were twelve children in her father's family. There are three still living, John and Elmer J. Francis of Adel and Mrs. W. A. Ruth of Sawyer, North Dakota. On February 27, 1879 she was married to John Ruth and lacked but sixteen days of completing fifty-three happy years of married life. Forty of these years were spent on a farm in Douglas township. They moved to Winterset in 1919. Their happy home was given four children, James William who died when seven, Ross Tipton of Macon, Missouri, Ray Pinson and Mrs. Varetta Moore of Winterset. There are two grandchildren. When a girl of 16, Mrs. Ruth professed her faith in Christ as Savior and united with the Panther Creek United Brethren Church. After her marriage she transferred her membership to the First Presbyterian church in Winterset and was a faithful, consistent, and devoted member. Except from Providential hinderance she always was at the Sanctuary for the Sabbath worship. She loved the church and her Lord. She labored dilligently until the going down of the sun and then hastened home before it was dark. Transcribed as published by Karen Brewer.
