Description	:	Nancy Louisa Brown was born July 24, 1853 in Oconto County, Wisconsin and passed away Saturday evening. February 25, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was in her 80th year. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Iowa and resided in Page County for a time, also a few years in Nebraska City, Nebraska, later moving to Nodaway, Iowa, where she was married to Daniel M. Read More	Nancy Louisa Brown was born July 24, 1853 in Oconto County, Wisconsin and passed away Saturday evening. February 25, 1939 in Des Moines, Iowa. She was in her 80th year. At the age of five, she moved with her parents to Iowa and resided in Page County for a time, also a few years in Nebraska City, Nebraska, later moving to Nodaway, Iowa, where she was married to Daniel M. Brown, September 9, 1873. Mr. Brown was station agent for the C. B. & Q. R. R. for many years. To this union a family of six children were born and reared, four sons and two daughters. Elmer A. of Post Falls, Idaho; Arthur J. and Frank A. of Des Moines; Mrs. Ethel H. Means of Villisca, ad Bertha Brown of Des Moines. Mrs. Brown made her home with the later at the time of her death. She was preceded in death by one son, Leslie, L., who died at his home in California four year ago and her husband, Daniel M. Brown, who passed away when the family were all small. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway for nearly fifty years. Besides her family of three sons and two daughters now left to mourn her loss, she leaves eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, also a number of nieces and nephews, who loved her as a second mother and friend without number. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in East Des Moines at the time of her death. Short services were held at the Lilly funeral home at 10 a.m., Wednesday morning, conducted by the Rev. Harry Shiffler of Des Moines and on Thursday the body was brought to the Presbyterian Church in Nodaway where at 2:00 p.m., old friends and neighbors came to pay tribute to their old friend for the last time. Services were conducted by the Rev. Arthur Marteetta. Singing by Mrs. Harold Everett accompanied by Mrs. Floyd Neill. Pall bearers were: Max ad Malcome Posten, Miles Roberts, Frank Miller, Stanley Hyde, and Oscar Starr. She was laid to rest in the Nodaway Cemetery by the side of her husband and loved ones who had gone on before. Adams County Free Press, March 9, 1939, page 6
