BIGHAM Nancy Maria Bigham, daughter of John and Mary Ann Bigham, was born in Marion county, Iowa, February 15, 1864, and died at Chariton, Iowa, on Dec. 21, 1944, being 80 years, 10 months and 6 days old. She moved to Lucas county when a child and spent the rest of her life here. She taught in the county schools for 36 years, resigning to take care of her invalid sister at their home on North Main street. A year ago she became ill and has been bedfast ever since. Last September, unable to secure help to take care of them, the home was broken up and the sisters parted. She leaves two sisters, Mary Bigham, at the home of their nephew, J. L. Hamilton, south of Lucas, and Mrs. Anna Kneeland, of Guthrie Center, Iowa, and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one sister, Mrs. Sarah Hamilton, and three brothers, James Bigham, who died in California, John Bigham, who died in Oregon and Will Bigham, who died in Texas. She was a member of the Christian church, taught a Sunday school class and attended church as long as she was able to do so. Funeral services were held at the Mrs. Frank Dunshee funeral home on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, conducted by Rev. J. T. Bloom. Burial was in the Brownlee cemetery.
