The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, June 25, 1932, p. 1 _______ Mrs. Nancy Nelson Buried Last Friday Prominent Mariners Woman Is Paralysis Victim The funeral of Mrs. Nancy Newman Nelson, who died from a paralytic stroke on Wednesday last, as announced in the last issue of the “Times,” was held from her late home in the Mariners section of Crisfield, at 2 P.M. last Friday. The deceased was the wife of the late Edward L. Nelson, who was killed on August 27, 1927 [1925], by an automobile on the state road near his home. She was the daughter of the late John Newman and Margaret Handy Newman. She was 82 years of age and had lived her entire life in the community where she died. One of the oldest and most beloved characters in the Mariners section, she will be best remembered by her kindness and good deeds to others. Her doors were always open to those in need; truly she will hear her Savior say, “Inasmuch As Ye Have Done It Unto One Of The Least Of These My Brethren, Ye Have Done It Unto Me.” Funeral services were held at her late home conducted by Rev. Fannie Northridge, assisted by Rev. Helen Sherl, both of Baltimore. Interment was in the Nelson burying ground, where the grave was banked with beautiful floral designs and surrounded by a host of neighbors and friends who loved her in life. Thus she was gently laid to rest. The deceased leaves one daughter, Mrs. Margie Nelson Horsey [wife of Edward L. Horsey]. The pallbearers were—Jesse Evans, Eugene Sterling, Lon T. Sterling, Ira Sterling, Reginald Cox and Luther Sterling. Among those from out-of-town attending the funeral were: Mrs. Lizzie Pitts and Mrs. Mary Gause, of Baltimore; and Mrs. Clyde Breckenridge, of Laurel, Del.
