Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 6, 2006, at Walker-Merrick Funeral Home, Clarinda, Iowa with Loren Daly officiating. Naomi Mae Clayton was born July 2, 1918, at Lenox, Iowa to Grover Arch Clayton and Mattie (Allen) Clayton. Naomi was united in marriage February 14, 1938, at Sidney, Iowa, to Orval Allen Gant. He preceded her in death June 5,1964. She later married Thomas Harris December 23, 1979. He also preceded her in death May 9, 1983. Naomi was a nurse's aide, caregiver and nanny. She had worked at Gillispies' Nursing Home and West Heights Manor and also at the Clarinda Municipal Hospital. Naomi also helped her husband with the farming. She was an active member of the Siam Church. She belonged to the Willing Workers of the church and had taught Sunday School. She also played the piano at church and played and sang for funerals. She was also a member of the North Star Club. Naomi enjoyed entertaining and cooking meals for family gatherings. She also enjoyed babysitting for grandchildren and great grandchildren. Preceding Naomi in death were her parents; two husbands; grandson, Duane Hughes; brothers, Ellis Clayton and Eldon Clayton. Survivors include her son, Roger Gant and wife Pat of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Karolyn Hughes and husband David of Clarinda, Iowa; daughter, Lorene Davison and husband Clark of Loveland, Colorado; step daughter, Janice Hardee and husband Phil of Clarinda, Iowa; grandchildren, Reba Richie and husband Ryan of Clarinda, Iowa, Kristine Harvey of Tarkio, Missouri, Rick Hughes of Poulsbo, Washington, Joe Davison and wife Kendra of Loveland, Colorado, Karla Davison of Lakewood, Colorado; step grandchildren, Jackie Bain of Clarinda, Iowa, Susie Vogler and husband Alan of Murdock, Nebraska, Phillis Williams of Clarinda, Iowa, Jim Hardee of New Market, Iowa; fifteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
