Description	:	Nathan Coon Dead At 80 RUSSELLS POINT - Nathan I. Coon, 80, who lived in Russells Point, formerly of Lima, died 8:22 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Memorial Hospital. Born June 2, 1889, in Amanda Township, Allen County, he was the son of Sanford and Matilda Fairchild Coon. He married Gail Bowdle on Nov. 9, 1910, who survives. A daughter, Greeta, died May 23, 1923. Read More	Nathan Coon Dead At 80 RUSSELLS POINT - Nathan I. Coon, 80, who lived in Russells Point, formerly of Lima, died 8:22 a.m. Wednesday at Lima Memorial Hospital. Born June 2, 1889, in Amanda Township, Allen County, he was the son of Sanford and Matilda Fairchild Coon. He married Gail Bowdle on Nov. 9, 1910, who survives. A daughter, Greeta, died May 23, 1923. He and his father Sanford owned a lumber business on East High Street, until the father's death in 1919. Mr. Coon owned and operated the firm, now known as Tuttle Lumber Co., until 1950. He also operated Coon Lumber Co. in Russells Point, and Schlegel-White Cottage Park until April, 1969. In 1923, Mr. Coon with a group of Lima businessmen organized the Mutual Savings and Loan Co. of Lima, which is now First Federal Savings and Loan. He was its board chairman. He was educated in business, commercial law and engineering at the former Lima College on North Jameson Avenue in Lima. A member and one of the organizers of Indian Lake Community Church, he was a 50-year member in Garrett-Wykoff Lodge 585 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, Lima chapter 49, Lima Council 20, Shawnee Commandery 14 and the Elks Lodge 54. Mr. Coon also was a member of the Lima Shrine Club, Logan County Shrine Club, Antioch Shrine Temple at Dayton and an honorary member of Antioch Funster Unit. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Van Horn Funeral Home, Lakeview, Rev. Robert B. Heywood officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. today.
