| Description | : | Neil was born 1820 in Argyleshire, Scotland, later moving to Dunbartonshire, Scotland. He came to Canada in 1835, and settled in North Sherbrooke Township, Lanark County, Ontario. He was first married to Margaret Warnock, daughter of John Warnock and Catherine Ferguson, on Jan.17,1843. Margaret died sometime before 1861. Neil remarried to Janet McLeoud.
