Britton died Thursday morning of diphtheria, aged 13 years, 1 month and 22 days, A week ago she was alive and well, but now the autumn leaves are falling over the little mound that covers her beloved form from sight. Tuesday she complained of not feeling well but nothing was thought of it until Wednesday evening when she became so alarmingly ill that medical aid was called. But it seems the malady had advanced too far to be checked. Just at the dawn of our earthly day her soul went out to enjoy the brightness of an eternal day with its God. A few hours before her death she asked her sister for a pencil and wrote: "Since Jesus freely did appear, To grace the marriage feast, Dear Lord we ask thy presence here To be our wedding guest." Her sweet, lovable disposition made her a favorite with all. Father, mother, brother and sister feel that part of their sunshine has vanished, but may they look to him who said: "Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted." A FRIEND.
