Mrs. Button, 83, of 212 Denver St., died Tuesday in a Sterling hospital. She was born Nov. 18, 1896 in Greeley County, Neb., the daughter of John and Nellie Foster Dewhurst. She was raised and educated in Nebraska where she taught school prior to her July 3, 1926 marriage to Percy L. Button in Greeley, Neb. The couple later lived in Ogallala, Neb., and Sidney, Neb., then moved to Sterling in 1949. Her husband is a former city councilman, is chairman of the Housing Authority of Sterling and owner and operator of Button Realty. Mrs. Button was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and has been Court Regent and Historian on the local level and had been District Deputy and First Vice Regent on the state level. She is survived by her husband, Percy L. Button of Sterling; a son, Gerald D. Button of Merchantville, N.J.; three sisters, Mrs. An na Doyle of Greeley, Neb., Mrs. Mary Fuller of Torrington, Wyo., and Mrs. Agnes Follmer of Sacramento Calif., and four grand children. Chaney-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
