Nellie Rebecca Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Wood, was born June 7, 1873 at Dow City, Iowa. She was married to Lewis David Smith in March, 1893 at Denison, Ia. Seven children were born to them. Mrs. Smith had lived in Creighton since 1905. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. August (Olive) Kehne and Mrs. James (Rena) Kocina of Creighton, Mrs. Edwin (Bernice) Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Demont Anderson of Burbank, Calif., 16 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Mrs. E.C. (Helen) Clare, and two sons, Foster and David Smith.
