The family of the couple, living in Ringsted, said plans of the Nelsons were to drive as far as Carthage, Mo. Wednesday where they intended to stay overnight and resume their trip to Excelsior Thursday. The funeral they were to attend was that of the mother of Mrs. Norman Nelson of Cairo, Mo. Nels Floyd Nelson was born Nov. 5, 1906 in Lohrville, Iowa. He came as a baby with his parents to the Ringsted community and they farmed southeast of Ringsted. After his marriage to Vera Larson of Ringsted, the couple also farmed southeast of Ringsted. In addition to his children, survivors are brothers and sisters, Gilbert, Harry L., Mrs. Roy Benson, Mrs. Thorvald Hansen, Mrs. Raymond Christiansen, all of Ringsted, Lawrence P. of Armstrong, and twin brothers, Alvin and Melvin, both of Moline, Ill. Vera Lila Larson was born Sept. 4, 1910 at Ringsted. She graduated from Ringsted high school, attended Teachers College at Cedar Falls and taught in rural Palo Alto county schools for several years. June 18, 1930 she married Nels Nelson at Ringsted. Surviving are sisters and brothers, Mrs. Christ Larson of Armstrong, Mrs. Walter Jentz of Fenton and Leslie Larson of Mesa, Ariz. The couple were parents of four children, Mrs. Harold Long of Estherville, Norman of Cairo, Mo., Duane (Bud) of Armstrong and Gary of Ringsted. Also surviving are nine grandchildren. Funeral services for the couple were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran church in Ringsted with Rev. Stanley Hansen of Exira officiating. Burial was at Memorial cemetery.
