Description	:	Stratford Courier January 26, 1919 Passing of Respected Old Citizen N.F. Teander passed away at his home here Monday morning about 7:30. He had been ailing for many years with asthmatic trouble and a short time ago contracted the influenza which added to his other trouble caused his demise. He was very nearly eighty years old. Funeral services will be held from the family home this afternoon at 1:30 with Rev. Pearson, pastor of the M.E. church at Harcourt, in charge. Stratford Courier January 30, 1919 Obituary Teander Nels Fredrick Teander was born at Trehorna, Vastra Harg socken, Östergötland, Sweden February 7, 1840 and died January 12, 1919 at the ripe old age of 78 years, 11 months, 11 days. He was united in marriage to Lovisa Nilsdotter in Sweden in 1868 and the couple came to America the same year and settled on the old Teander farmstead south of Stratford. In [unreadable date] the family moved to Stratford where they have since made their home. He is survived by an aged wife, one daughter, Mrs. Rena Swanson and one son, Emil Teander, four grandchildren, a brother in Nebraska, two foster children, a niece and a nephew, and a host of friends who regret his passing. He was a staunch and true Christian and had been a member of the South Marion M.E. church for many years. For many years he had been a sufferer with asthmatic trouble and a few years ago went to California for the winter to seek relief. Until his last illness he had survived the winter nicely. Deceased was a quiet, unassuming and home loving man. Ever when he could be out he much preferred his home to idling away his hours on the streets. He came to Iowa when the state was yet to its younger days and made for himself and family a good livelihood out of this then wilderness. It is men such as he who helped make the history of this grand state and it is because of their privations and hardihood that this state is what it is today. Deceased was one of those few men who made the world better by having lived in it and his presence will be missed by many many people. He lived a good life, he made a good fight and he has gone to that other world for which he was prepared and which awaited him.
