Read More	The passing of Nelson Ellingson, one of our most active and progressive young men, casts a pale of gloom over this entire community. His sudden death was caused by being heavily thrown from his automobile, while riding in it as a passenger enroute from Center to his home in Creighton on Thanksgiving evening, Nov. 26, between 6 and 7 o'clock about 5 miles south of Center. About 40 feet north county bridge No. 22, generally known as the Chris Kruse bridge. For about six years, "Nels" as he was familiarly called, was actively engaged in stock raising, stock buying and feeding and for the past two years, he devoted the greater part of his time to the upbuying of the Ellingson stock farm on his farm west of town. This was his mission and his desire. Nels married Anna Schneider. They made their home in Creighton. The deceased is survived by his wife, son, William Charles, age 2 and daughter Margaret Monica, age 4. parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Iver Ellinson, five brothers and three sisters. ******** INQUEST Nelson Ellingson, Jerry Agler, Paul Loebel and Leslie Weber were driving from Center to Creighton in Nels Ellingson's car. In some manner the car struck a hole north of the Christ Kruse bridge, throwing Nels Ellingson and Jerry Agler violently to the ground, almost instantly killing Nels Ellingson, who died about five minutes after he was picked up and Jerry Agler sustained several severe bruises. Leslie Weber, who was driving the car and Paul Loebel, who was in the front seat with him, were unaware that their companions were thrown out until after going about 40 rods. Paul Loebel turned around to see if another car was coming and then missed them. Fred Carlson, who was driving the other car had also passed them a short distance without noticing them. Upon going back to the scene of the accident, they found Ellingson and Agler laying unconscious upon the ground and putting them in the car brought them immediately to Creighton. An inquest was held at Metteer's furniture store on Friday evening, November 27. Coroner Kucera questioned the occupants of the car and they testified that the car was not going to exceed twenty-five miles an hour. The following is the verdict brought in by the jury: "That on November 26th, between the hours of 6 and 7 p.m., said Nelson Ellingson came to his death accidentally by falling from his auto on the public highway between the bridge known as the Chris Kruse bridge, between Creighton, Neb. and Bazile Mills, Neb., the direct cause of death being his neck broken caused from said fall form said auto." ...The Creighton News Nov 1914
