ALBERT ALLEN Elkader, Ia. — Special: Funeral services for Mrs. Albert Allen, 70, who died unexpectedly at her home here Thursday forenoon, were held from the home to the Congregational Christian church here Saturday afternoon. The Rev. George M Richter officiated, and burial was in the East Side cemetery. Nettie Hirsch, the daughter of John and Mary Leibrand Hirsch, was born June 17, 1875, on a farm near McGregor, Ia. On May 26, 1897, she was carried to Albert Allen, at McGregor, where they lived until 1901, when they moved to Elkader, which has since been their home. Mrs. Allen was a member of the Royal Neighbors, and Charity chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, of Elkader, which she served for two years as worthy matron. She has been a member of the Congregational Christian church for 37 years, and served as Sunday school teacher, prest dent of the Ladies guild, and as deaconess. In January, she was named deaconess emeritus in recognition of her many years of service. She is survived by two sons Raymond H. Allen. Cedar Rapids la., and Lt. Alvin W. Allen, stationed at the naval air base at Alameda. Calif.; a son-in-law Frank Chapman, and his son Allen Ray Chapman, Boise, Idaho; one sister, Mrs. George Wetter, Orchard, Ia.; and one brother, Will Hirsch, Dubuque, Ia. She was preceded in death by her husband, in November, 1940, a daughter, Mrs. Maurine Chapman, who died in September, 1944. Pallbearers at the funeral were Henry Wolf, G. J. Graf. E. W. Carlsen, R L. Jipson, J. W. Downie, and A. A. Schultz.
