Description	:	Neva Ryno, 95, of Winner, SD, formerly of Wood, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010, at the Winner Regional Healthcare Long Term Care Facility in Winner, SD. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 19, at the Wood Community Hall in Wood, SD. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Wood. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Neva was born April 3, 1915 in Newport, NE to Ben and Ambrette (Flaherty) Eaton. She attended grade school in rural schools in Mellette County and high school at Wood. On December 29, 1933 she married Ralph Ryno and lived the rest of their married lives in the Wood area except for a brief time at which they resided in Nebraska. To this union three boys were born Bert, Bob and Larry. They continued to ranch and farm until Ralph passed away in 1971. The summer of 1972 Neva went to Mt. Rushmore National Monument where she worked in the gift shop. She quickly advanced from clerk to supervisor and enjoyed meeting people. Sharing the history of the region was something she loved to do. In the winter months she worked in Weslaco, TX at a dress shop as a sales representative. She continued with this routine until 1978. In 1978 Neva married Ben Wedel and moved to Enid, OK where she remained until Ben's death in 1993. She returned to South Dakota and lived in Winner until the time of her death. Neva was a member of the UCC Church of Wood and regularly attended the Methodist Church in Winner. She served on the school board, taught Sunday school and was a past matron of the Wood OES. She was awarded the Volunteer service award for her dedicated work in Meno, OK. Neva loved family and nothing gave her greater pleasure than visiting with them and making sure everyone was well fed. A favorite pastime of hers was embroidery. She made countless pillowcases and quilt blocks. Every stitch was sewed with love and great attention to detail. She is survived by her sons Bert (Gloria), Bob (Babe), and Larry (Nell) all of Wood, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brothers, Rollie (Joyce) Eaton, Colorado Springs, CO, Eldon Eaton (and friend Elaine Swartz), Eau Claire, WI, her sister Dolcie Korzeniecky, MA, and her sister-in-law Ruth Eaton of Ogalla, NE. Neva was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, brothers Abe and Melvin, Sisters Esther, Vera and Mildred and great grandson Dustin Comp. We will forever remember her gentle spirit, faithfulness and love of family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Wood Community Hall.
